Leslie Silver OBE, one of Yorkshire's best known business figures sponsors the Unsung Hero Award. After distinguished service in the RAF in WW2 he founded the Silver Paint & Lacquer Co. in 1947 using his RAF Gratuity. The company became one of the largest paint manufacturers in the world.

 

Leslie has been awarded the OBE and named Yorkshire Businessman of the Year. He was Chairman of Leeds United AFC from 1982-1995 and Chancellor of Leeds Metropolitan University from 1999-2005.
