Some of North Yorkshire’s great houses are on the route for a charity bike ride which gets under way later this month.

Ash Barnard of East Harlsey, Northallerton, will be tackling a circular route taking in Hovingham Hall, Clifton Castle and Ripley Castle to raise funds for the Yorkshire Young Achievers Foundation.
Ash, who is a Trustee of the Foundation, had to postpone her cycling challenge last year after injuring both legs in quick succession in two separate accidents.

The delay has made her even keener to succeed this year. She said: “I am raring to go now because I’ve been thinking about this challenge for so long and I am really looking forward to starting the first stage on Tuesday 28 June.”

If all goes to plan, Ash will complete the round trip of more than 120 miles on Friday 1 July.
The Yorkshire Young Achievers Foundation supports charitable projects for young people in the Yorkshire region and was founded in 2010. The creation of the Foundation marked the 18th anniversary of the Yorkshire Young Achievers Awards, which have raised more than £850,000 for young people in Yorkshire, and was designed to allow direct funding of projects.

Foundation Chairman Peter McCormick OBE said: “We have been overwhelmed by the support the Foundation has received and Ash’s cycling challenge is a great example of how people can help us to help young people across the region.”
